E-reader: Apple’s iPad or Amazon’s Kindle?
| April 26, 2010 | Posted by Abren Michaels under amazon, Apple, Electronics, Gadgets, iPad, iPhone, iPod, tablet, Tech News |

With the emergence of the iPad, rumors have circulated that the Amazon Kindle will die out. What many devoted Kindle users will tell you is that nothing can replace their Kindle, and here’s why. The biggest complaint about the iPad, when used as an e-reader, is that it is not friendly to the eyes because of the backlit screen. A Kindle screen mimics newspaper print so it is easy to read and can be used in direct sunlight and is not strenuous on the eyes.
The other main criticism of the iPad vs. Kindle is the price. The simplest of the iPad’s will cost you around $500, while the Kindle is half that price. Categorizing the iPad as an e-reader does not make sense, since it has various functions and applications. If one is looking for strictly an e-reader, Kindle is more affordable. However, for those looking for something closer to what a laptop can do, iPad will be a better choice.

Apple iPad Surpasses all Expectations
| April 13, 2010 | Posted by Alyssa Duval under Apple, Electronics, iPad, iPhone, iPod, tablet, Tech News |

On April 3rd, 2010, Apple finally released the long-awaited iPad. This short post will tell you a little bit about my impressions of this device.
The first thing you’ll notice about the iPad is how thin it is. It’s actually a bit thinner than an iPhone! When you pick it up, it feels a bit heavy, at 1.5 lbs. However, the plus side of this is that you can really feel the solid quality of this device.
Despite how many people have been saying that it is just a big iPod Touch, there are actually a few changes that set it apart. The Safari web-browsing app, for example, has a new UI for when you’re switching between windows. Rather than flipping through your windows one by one, you can see them all at the same time.
The iTunes app also is much improved. It looks a lot closer to the iTunes that you’d expect on your computer. Perhaps the biggest improvement is the YouTube App. You can see all the search results on the same screen, and the display is absolutely gorgeous.
Overall, I think the iPad is a great value for the price. It’s hard to sum up all the features for you. You need to go to an Apple Store and try it for yourself.
Apple lays the smackdown on Khalid

It’s about time Apple’s super-restrictive control over its ITunes store actually work towards the benefit of its users. It was recently announced that Apple shut down Khalid Shaikh and his legion of spam-happy Pakistani programmers, tossing out more than 900 of his useless apps from the store. (more…)
